A relatively new event featuring taxi dancers is MILONGA ELITE, organized by Hugo (“Tango Guapo”) and Julia Doynel at the place where Julia's Milonga Sueño Porteño is located (Maza 457, Boedo). It takes place every Tuesday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. and has become very popular. Here, on the first floor of the Spanish restaurant Tui Salceda, there is a large dance hall available—a space many of you will recognize from Julia Doynel’s popular Sunday-evening milonga, Sueño Porteño. However, while tables are set up all around the dance floor at that Milonga, the arrangement at MILONGA ELITE is slightly different: the tables and chairs are cleared away, and only on the side of the bar there are a few rows of long tables with chairs where the dancers sit. This makes the dance floor significantly larger than at the other milongas in this location.

The concept behind this “Milonga” is that one taxi dancer is hired for every registered woman, so that all the women can dance every tanda with a good dancer during the two-hour event.
